How do you do an off camera flash?

start by buying an off camera shoe cord and hold the flash with your left hand while shooting with your right. once you master the basics of that then you can move up to wireless triggers/mulitple flashes.

Why in the world would he do that? What you can do with a couple feet of ETTL cord is extremely limited...

it's less limiting than a flash that sits on top of your camera and doesn't move ;) makes no sense to spend a lot of money on equipment while you're just learning. get the basics down first and then spend your money.

i feel you on the basics but there's alot of way to learn for instance you can start cheap ebay wireless flash triggers, its not pw but it will make the job done(misfires) alot though.=D and plus you can hold the camera properly.=D

Its far cheaper to pick up some Cactus PT-04 eBay triggers! I've got both and can't see the cable getting much use personally..
