Kind of new at this. I have a 580EX II and I'm looking to get another flash (most likely a 430EX) and I'm looking to buy a pocket wizard setup. So do I need 3 PW Plus IIs to fire the 2 flashes? It seems like all those hot shoe cables at flash zebra are sold out so I guess I could always buy the Paramont ones at B&H. Anything else I need? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. You would need 3 pocketwizards. You may be able to get away with 2 if you can get a cable split and the the receiver send signals to both flashes but that might kill the point of wireless flash. So 2 flashes... I PW on camera transmitting to 2 PW (one for each flash).
Send an email to Flash Zebra and he should be able to tell you what you need. He offers a great service.

The 580EX II comes with a built-in sync port so you can use the miniphone to PC sync cord that comes with the PW unit to connect it to the 580EX II.

For the 480EX, if you decide to get it, you can mount it on a PC to hotshoe adapter (http://flashzebra.com/hotshoes-shoes/0065.shtml (external link)) and the use the miniphone to PC sync cord to connect the combo to the PW.

You also might want to look at the alienbees cybersyncs. I enjoy them a lot, and this is coming from a PW user..

Also, contact Lonnie, the guy that runs the FZ site. He'll let you know when he's getting the parts for the cables.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

You could get by with two PW's if you have the 430 on the camera and 1 PW connected to the camera's PC port (cable included with PW) and the 2nd PW connected to the 580EX II also with the supplied cable. You won't have the flexibility of using 2 flashes off-camera but it gets you going immediately.

Cheers!
