I picked up a circular polarizer a wee bit ago and this was my first shots with my car but I thought the idea of this filter was to completely remove glass reflections?

The way you have the CPL positioned is to take away reflections on the body of the car, which it did it's job very very well. If you rotate it, you'll see that it will take the reflections right off the windshielf of the car. When i shoot, i try to put the camera on the tripod and take multiple pictures of the same exact angle while rotating the CPL everytime, then you merge them in PS and have the least amount of reflections possible.

Oh thanks GP, didn't know that, i'll try that next time. I was hand holding it with the hood on so couldn't rotate it. I can now see half the car and the building glass is reflect free so I must have had it positioned for half the car.

The CP-L takes reflections off of non-metallic surfaces. You must turn the filter (there should be a rotating front) and you'll notice the difference.
