SO I took this picture a week or so ago, and I think its a decent picture, but I can't seem to get the processing right. I feel like its either too punchy or too flat. It was a super hazy morning, so I don't think it will ever be great, but I was wondering if anyone here would like to school me a bit on how I could make it better.

Have fun, and please let me know what you did! ;)

Thanks!

You got close to the Turkey Vulture! I always have a hard time with them as they are out when the sun is the harshest:(

I don't see that there is much you can do in pp other than crop it much tighter.

To me I think it could use a bit of a contrast boost to compensate for the hazyness and I think I might try and play around with the "Shadow/Highlights" tool in Photoshop too to maybe even out the lighting a bit.

Good Luck,
Jim

The original image has too much negative space around the bird (I don't know bird species sorry) so the best you're going to get is a tight crop, and you likely won't print it very large.

You've got to flip your lighting conditions. Background dark, foreground light.

That is a perfect name for this bird. It totally reminded me of a turkey, but I thought it was some kind of vulture.
