How would I go about fire my 580 in off camera. I have the cheap wireless trigger and receiver from ebay. But the receiver has the 1/4 inch jack for pluging into the studio strobes. How would I hook it to the pc connection on the 580. Is there an adapter out there or is there a different way to make this set up work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

D~

I believe Radio Shack has "step down" adapters for those pin jacks to accomodate the 1/8" size.

I'll look into that. But does it have the female end and the pc on the other end? That is what I am needing.

I'll give it a shot. It's better than dropping 5 bills or more on pocket wizards

Use the 580 as a master on the camera and fire the 430 off the camera instead. Then you don't need to buy anything at all.

I do that now. But I'm wanting to experiment some.

Check out www.flashzebra.com (external link) - he makes all kinds of flash cords at very reasonable prices.

this works when you don't need BOTH flashes off camera.
When you do, you can either find a $4.00 Radio Shack solution, or drop another $400.00 on a third flash.

I recently just needed to get both flashes off camera for a paying gig, and I opted for the $4.00 option :)

this Mod was simple, took about 15 minutes. Highly recommended.

Looks great. But I'm not into to modding my gear. If it screws up then the warranty is screwed. I talked to FLASHZEBRA. He's got the cord I need. Way better price than dropping the cabbage on the new flash or the PW's.

Understood, mucking around with a cable, or buying one, is a lot safer than mucking around with your flash!
And still a lot more affordable than a new flash ;)

Very true. Although if I ever come across a cheap flash to mess with then I will. I still want the PW though.
