What the heck is that? I got a Transcend 16Gb card several months ago and basically use it only when I fill my first 2Gb card, cause it writes a little slower than the smaller cards. So I never really got up to 2Gb on it before, until today. So I'm out shooting this morning and it says Full CF at wat seemed like way too soon. And it was, when I got it on the reader there were only 169 RAW's from the 40D on it. My 2Gb Transcend card holds 149. So not the same, but close.

Anyone know why it does that? What's the use of buying a bigger card if it won't work with the camera?

Where did you get the card? which camera were you using it with?

It could be a re-labelled Ebay ripoff. It could just be that your camera firmware needs updating or that you're shooting with a camera which doesn't recognize anything over 2GB.

or it could be an older camera that doesn't recognize the 16-gig card.

Mitch,

i am assuming that this was with your 40D and not the 1D correct? also, did you format the card in the camera?

I think I found the problem. Yes, the 40D, yes, I did format the card, last in the 1D. Duhhhh.... After I downloaded the new pics, I formatted it in the 40D and low and behold, it now says 999 in the top window. Before anyone asks, no, it did not change the 40D number sequencing. :)

Looks like problem solved. I can't get out again today, but should go over the normal number of shots on a 2Gig card tomorrow. I'll know for sure then. :)

What size is the card when you put it in the card reader?
