I've got a shot in mind to try out tonight of some people shooting craps. What I'd like is to get a picture of the dice mid throw, frozen and in the focal plane, with the shooter in the background, oof.

I've been playing with this a bit to figure out how to pull it off, and I can't seem to get the dice in focus, so I turn to your collective experience for tips. I did a search for craps and dice, but didn't find anything.

I'm guessing I need to prefocus on a spot and take the shot when the dice move into that plane?

Thanks in advance!

that is correct. the best way to do something like that would be to prefocus and trigger the shot once the dice is in the plain of focus. also, make it might be a good idea to use flash/strobe to freeze the dice...
