man i must be doing something wrong i haven't gotten a photo comment in a long time. what am i doing wrong?

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with it. It could have used a little bit of fill for the shadow on his face though. Overall, not a bad snapshot.

Don't worry-same thing happens to everyone. I post shots I know are nice and no comments. Frustrating. I like this shot, but I think you need some fill flash on his face?
Looks like pretty harsh light but he needs to be turned a little towards it and it's always nice to be able to see his eyes. Just my opinion.

Well, you posted it at bedtime :)

This pic would have benefited from a wider framing and a reflector. His eyes being closed don't help either. It is not a bad picture, just not a stellar one.

Thanks guys. I would rather have some negative feedback than none at all. That's the only way I learn as all my family members lie to me and say every shot is great :rolleyes: I agree with all the comments and will try to do better next time.
