I got asked to quickly shoot some shots of alcohol for somebody working on a project. I didn't have time to set up my strobes, so I just used the onboard flash... good enough.

The shots aren't stunning but I did learn something that will help those who want to do stock photos and get a nice "head" on their beer shots, or foam on cappuccino shots. Buy one of those liquid soaps that use a foaming pump.... viola! All the foam you ever need!

The soap I have is actually amber, so it coloured the water nicely and I then added a few pumps of foam on top.

Here I went overboard! (the "shot" is laundry detergent.. the "whiskey" is really Canadian Club.. for afterward)

Nice. Thanks for the foam tip- looks good.

...But still the clever north wind was not satisfied. It spoke to her of towns yet to be visited, friends yet to be discovered...

Cool. Very innovative. But the foam looks a little bit too "soapy". It might slip past some, but I think a lot of people are going to look at that and scratch their heads (no pun intended)and see that something isn't quite right.

Thanks I hope more accomplished photographers can use this foam soap trick.
Roffy, looking again, I think the 2nd picture is not quite right, mainly because the foam is not flat on the top, eh? I was in a bit of a rush and didn't have time to fix it, so it will have to do :)

I think ginger ale would have worked better than water too, since it would have bubbles in the drink.

PS. Tasted great! My insides are nice and clean
