I shoot with an rebel xt, and I have been shopping for glass. I found an EOS 35mm that comes with a sigma 28-80 and a sigma 70-300mm, good price. Will I be able to utilize the two sigma lenses from the 35mm on my digital? I am just concerned the focus servos may be different or something. any insight would be appreciated.

on a side note... i was just typing this while at work, and some boaters pulled up shouting that there was a tornado, it was actually a waterspout and I shot some frames... nice!

Total newbie to this site, I have learned piles of info and technique in the few days since i discovered potn. I want to thank everyone here for their expertise and guidance.

Generally, any EOS lens will work on your XT.

But! The exception is older Sigma lenses. Sigma made some mistakes in those lenses, and while they work fine with older Canon cameras they don't work with newer ones. These lenses need to be "rechipped" to work with newer cameras, but Sigma won't do that on lenses that are over 10 years old. I suspect most if not all of the troublesome lenses are now past the 10-year mark.

The Sigma 28-80 is one of those lenses. If it has already been rechipped, it would be usable. If it hasn't, you'll probably get an Error 99 if you try to use it at any aperture other than wide-open.

I don't know if the 70-300 would need rechipping or not. There were multiple versions of Sigma 70-300 lenses.

Unless the seller is willing to guarantee that the lenses will work on your camera—either they've already been rechipped or don't need rechipping—I'd pass this one up.
