Hi all,
I currently own a 400D (XTi) camera with the lens that came with it (EFS 18-55mm). The actual lens image quality isn't that good so I was thinking of upgrading it to a 24mm 1.4f since I already tried it. Now, I tried it with a 5D camera which is full frame and was wondering if the results would be nearly as good with mine?
Thanks for the help
Dave
It will be very good on a 400D, but it will be similar to a short standard lens on a 5D. The FoV on the 400D is similar to a FoV of a 40 mm on a 5D, while 24 mm on a 5D is similar to 15 mm on a 400D. You have to keep that in mind.
I used an SMC Pentax 40 F/2.8 as my standard lens on a Pentax MX, years ago, and just loved it. It feels great to me to have something similar back on the 400D or 40D for that matter, but then at higher IQ and quite a bit faster.
Set the kit lens to 24 mm, and see how that feels to you. Just imagine a much brighter view finder, and IQ straight from the camera and lens at F/1.4 that beats the kit lens at F/5.6
.
Kind regards, Wim
