Recommendations for Canon G6 - Case

I recently upgraded to Canon G6 from G2 (which actually taught me the digital photography). I am looking for the case for my new G6. Would appreciate your recommendations.....

Hello! I also own a Geeeeeee6 and i dont know of a case that is made just for this camera!!! What i would do is take your camera with you to a camera store or bestbuy or walmart or kmart or some place like that and try it out to see just how it fits.You need to plan for the extra stuff that you might want with you in the bag such as the battery charger and a spare battery and also room for the add on flash(420-ex) if you plan to use one.And also spare CF>cards and any add on lens and the oweners book and the list goes on and on.As you can see its not just that simple to say that bag #1735 is the best one.It might not be a good one for all of us.Tealblue

I am just looking for the camera case.....no batteries, no CF Card or any other accessory with it......just the case preferably in black, gray or blue.......any suggestions......

I have a Lowepro AW series bag for my G2--I think it's the D-Res 200 AW--which is probably a bit larger than you're thinking of. Has room for a battery, super-thin card reader, and a lenspen. They do have smaller models. One nice thing about the AW (All Weather) bags is that they have a waterproof cover that tucks away (like a roll-up hood on a jacket) when not needed. Even if you if you don't plan to shoot in moist weather, it's a nice emergency feature!
If you take your camera on hikes or even just on your person for most of a day, look for a case/bag with a belt strap augmenting the shoulder strap--that will keep it from swinging around and banging into you and other things.

Since the G6 is the relative newcomer, I'd echo tealblue's suggestion--after getting an idea for what brands/product lines, and features other G users like, take your camera to a store with a wide selection, and look at the smaller models from those same lines, see how the camera fits in them, and especially how they fit on you. Also keep in mind that a great bag with a crummy strap can always be upgraded with a 3rd party strap (or two).

I use a Tamrac 5693. It has a zipper pocket in the front for a spare battery & memory card, but it doesn't take up much room. The G6 fits this case very well, including a little room for the neck/hand-strap. I use the front pocket to hold the remote control and 1 spare battery.

Their D-Compact, or D-Offset if you have a Lensmate adapter attached, might serve you well. The D-Compact is a perfect replacement case for all those deteriorating Canonet cases out there, by the way!

Also check out www.m-rock.com. My LCS carries them, otherwise I might not have been as impressed by the quality and flexibility. They have several small bags which were a perfect fit for the G6 with no accessories--I think it was the 'yosemite' which fit best. The case uses a thin, plastic sheet combined with a thin layer of closed-cell foam to make the back of the bag rigid, yet still very light. One of the few bags I've seen that includes a pad on the shoulder strap. I know from experience that the G-series aren't light enough to not dig into your shoulder after a few hours without a pad.
