Ummm, I measured the light *before* the bee even got to the flower! As it was a sunny day, and the conditions didn't change all that much, one reading was good for several minutes... Remember, the incident meter doesn't care what the subject is, that is one of the reasons it's so accurate!

I have the Sekonic 758 with the spot meter, but I only use it in studio, and even then I don't know what the heck I'm doing.

It's Mark. That's what he does . . . Look for a lot of these; it tends to happen when he gets bored.

Ha ha, well I suppose there are worse things one could do when theyre bored. Its just fun to tease a bit at an old thread coming back to life. Which dont get me wrong is sometimes a really good thing as sometimes the information is still relevant and could still help someone. Not really sure thats the case with this one but yea....

I have been using the Sekonic 458 and I would agree with the 1st two items of the O.P.
If you never have used a hand held light meter you should.

I would consider a RGB histogram more informative than a hand held meter. A real time RGB histogram in Live View would be even better. The better dSLRs all have built in spot meter evaluation anyway if its a compositional matter.
In 2002 there were no RGB histograms.

There are some who believe the spot meter in a say Sekonic L-758DR are better than those in any DSLR...
