I'm debating these two battery chargers and just want to know if you guys feel one has an edge over the other. I live in Canada and the only place I can find them for a reasonable price is on ebay and via ebay both will be roughly the same cost after shipping. (About $70.)

I read somewhere that the Maha emits a high pitched noise when it's charging, I guess everything else being equal that will point me to the La Crosse charger unless there is something else that makes one stand above the other.

Thanks,
Kurt

Have you checked out http://www.paulsfinest.com …ery-Chargers-p-1-c-4.html (external link) ?

They don't have the La Crosse though.

http://thomasdistributing.com/ (external link) has good prices, but in the States.

I have the Maha and it is very quiet while charging, unless I'm too old and can't hear the high freq noises anymore :)

The only problem I have with the C9000 is that it is too big to carry in my bag while travelling, so I had to buy a second (cheap and small) travel charger. But for the benefits Maha provides to maintain your cells in top shape, it is worth it IMO.

I dunno about the MH-C9000 but my MH-C801D is dead silent.

I have a BC-900 that thomasdistributing bundles with 8xAA Eneloops for around $60ish (I forget the exact price). It's a great deal IMO. The charger works great, I think that review is sort of crap. Sure, the BC-900 doesn't have the greatest UI but it really is not hard to figure out, especially considering it comes with a manual. If you read my sig, you'll understand ;)

From all the research I did on chargers, none at the time offered more features than the Maha C-9000. Its rated the best out there and gives you tons of options and control over the care of your rechargeable batteries.

I have the Maha, and ordered from Thomas cross-border. I don't hear a whine (but that is with a laptop nearby as well).

Thanks everyone, I have been convinced. Decided to order the Maha from paulsfinest (thanks for the link gool), got the charger and two 4 packs of the powerex 2700mah batteries and some battery cases, total was just a hair over $100 after shipping which is on par with what I found on ebay and at thomas.

Thanks everyone for the info and advice, can't wait for it all to get here!
Kurt

If I was back in Canada, I'd order the same things. :)
