thinking about amvona stands, getting rid of impact

has anyone have any experience with amvona lightstands and clamps? im thinking about dumping my more expensive impact lightstands and going for these cheaper dealies. smart move? good move? so-so move? bad move?

im just holding up one sunpak 383 on each stand thats all, nothing heavy

I have many different Impact stands from the (2)8ft air and (2)9.6ft air cushion to the (2)convertible boom stands and 3ft background stand. (The 9.6ft is a great heavy duty stand.)

They aren't the greatest, but they are pretty good for what I do.
(Although the converible booms are aweful in my opinion.)

If the Impact does the job, why trade them.

Today it's only a Speedlite and maybe umbrella, maybe tomorrow something more.

I would think after selling and shipping your old ones and buying the Amvona's and paying for shipping that it may not be all worth while.

Unless of course there is a huge weight difference and you are always on the go with them.

I say keep the Impacts, but hey that's just my 2 cents.

Perhaps someone who owns the Amvona ones can chime in...

How about a little more information? Which Impact stands do you currently have and which of the Amvona stands are you considering? What's the object of this exercise? Saving weight? Reducing size? You're certainly not going to save/make any money by swapping light stands.

looks like the bugger is shipping here and i havent even seen what their shipping prices are. at $22 amvona vs the $35 impact, i was just thinking of saving that difference, i mean i still have to pay shipping with BH to get the impacts.

i only have one impact 9ft stand. hoping to grab another smaller one (8ft?)

You might want to think of your light stands as a long-term investment.

I started with the Bogen / Manfrotto 6' Nano stands and have never regretted it. My location lights are ever changing but the stands are still good. Will now be adding an 8' air cushoned one for a new fluorescent softbox (either Photoflex or Wescott).

oo giottos looking nice. i think size isnt my concern really. my impact is about 4ft long i think and all i really need is a bag for it.

Those Giottos stands look pretty nice. What flash / umbrella bracket are you using on them?

I'd post examples with the umbrella but I typically use it as shoot-through so it wouldn't make much difference whether it was that one or any other shoot-through. I'll make an effort to set it up the full way with bounce and the diffuser soon.
