Looking for C&C as this is the first time I have ever shot and PP'd using RAW...unfortunately, I know it is OOF :( ...good news is that I know I can go back and try and get a better shot :D

The first is the original out of camera pic:

i think you need to combine both... in first one the flower is blown out and in second one the background is underexposed :) catching my drift here? ... um... i farted... now, back to what i was saying... combine the two to get a perfect image

Hello

I think it looks much better now. But I wish I could see more details.

Thanks
Oly.

I realize, this being my first post, that I probably shouldn't be commenting on anyone's work, but I just wanted to know that it's a beautiful shot. I just kind of wish you hadn't warmed it up in pp. I think it looked a lot cleaner (minus the blown flower) in the first shot. The colors just seemed to pop more.

Eagle, what PP software are you using? FYI, Lightroom 2 has a highlight recovery feature that can pull a pretty good amount of detail out of highlights. Run it on the first image, maybe warm it up a touch (just a few degrees), run a light USM on it and you'll have a great image.

You mentioned that they were out of focus. However, that's not going to help you next time unless you figure out why. It looks like the nearest tip of the leaf on the left is in focus. Figure out how to get your camera to focus on the flower.

i actually was usinng the LR demo and it just ran out yesterday...now all I have to use is Picassa :(

I have seen where some people have re-PPd someones image and I would have no problem with that to see the final result

as for Joe, I didnt realize when I was there that the shot was OOF so I will simply go back and make sure that I have good lighting and a steady hand or tripod

edit: they are actually one and the same photo
