The method i use at the moment to upload my pics is to remove my CF card from my 40D and use a card reader to transfer to PC.
Will this method cause wear on the CF card or camera or is there a better way.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tony.

Of course, the cards are rated at something like 100,000 or so insertions so the chances are that the card will be obsolete way before it wears out. Heck, I still have some 8k (yes, kilo) cards and they still work. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Thanks, I didn't know if USB or bluetooth would be a better option or what method most people use. https://www.flickr.com/photos/tonybeale/

I would think you'd need to do it a million times before wearing the card out. They are so cheap and growing in capacity at such a large rate anyway that you'll probably buy a new one in six months anyway. Anke

It is cheaper than the body of my camera. Scott

Some pros go through cards in minutes and are always swapping, Canon has designed it to take this punishment. Just don't be too forceful. Anke

So even if you removed and inserted the card every day, it would take 30 years to hit the minimum for a cheap card. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

CF seems like the best media as far as durability, looks much easier to me to put a SD card or other smaller card in backwards and break something. Sony A6000, 16-50PZ, 55-210, 35mm 1.8 OSS
