Looking for an alternative to the pricey SB-E2. Looking to mount a 580EX to a 30D in a similar fashion, can anyone suggest any other economical brands or models?

Thanks.

What were you going to use the bracket for? We could probably come up with better suggestions for you than the SB-E2.

The SB-E2 really doesn't look that useful and seems to be the worst flash bracket design a company, a camera manufacturing company no less, could come up with. First of all, for landscape use, the bracket places the flash to the left of the camera. That'll give you the same type of lighting you would get from most p&s cameras. And secondly, for portrait use, the camera has to be rotated clockwise which puts the shutter button at the bottom instead of the top and, if using a vertical grip, renders the shutter button on the grip useless.
