i currently use a 580exii but ive been told that the metz flash syncs better with the canon camera ..is this true ?? if not i also need to but a quantum battery pack or something and again i heard that metz re-charges quicker with the battery pack ...??

what do you guys use...as this is for weddings and i use my flash alot!!! batteries just wont do anymore lol !!!

any advice or recommendations on this as i need to get something this week as i have a wedding on sunday to do !

Can you explain what "the metz flash syncs better" means? And which Metz flash were you referring to? I have the 580EX II and the Metz 58AF-1 and, if I take your "syncs better" phrase literally, I'd say that it's the other way around. At full power, the max sync speed of the 58AF-1 is 1/125, not 1/250. But I'm sure that's not what the "syncs better" phrase was actually referring to.

I use a 580 EX, a 580 EX II, and a 550 EX. On the two 580s I use an Al Jacobs Black Box battery pack (see link below) on each one.... good for about 1,000 full power flashes between charges.
