So a few weeks back I rented a Canon 100-400L f/4.5-5.6 IS. I tried it out in several different scenarios.. sports, wildlife to name a few.
One ball game started at 6PM to finish a game rained out in the 9th the night before. The next game started at 7PM. I found myself having to use ISO 400+ from the get-go to get decently high shutter speeds. By 7:30 to 8PM I was having to use ISO1600-3200, which I hate doing, so at that point I gave up.
I actually went to 2 games that week. One night I sat on first baseline, the other I sat on third base side (sun setting behind me). I do love the sharpness and clarity of this lens WHEN I had enough light.
The exif info is at the bottom of every photo.. but unfortunately the ISO part didn't show up right. These were taken in raw and converted to jpeg. They're also cropped a fair amount to get rid of all the unnecessary background.
