I'm looking for a "L" bracket with a trigger release on it to fire the shutter. Used to have one for my C330 2 1/4x2 1/4 camera years ago but that use a cable screwed into the shutter release button. Canon 40D's can't use a old style cable release. Reason I'm looking for something like this is because the doctor told me that I will not be able to hold a camera using my right arm for about a year. I can hold the camera with my left hand using a "L" bracket but pushing the shutter is another problem. Not using my camera for a year is not acceptable:evil:, so any ideas would be great. I do have a "L" bracket (no trigger release on it), wireless remote and a mono pod with a quick release attached.

Thanks,
Craig

P.S.
No, I won't be selling off my gear. Might have to fight the family off from taking it from me.

If you already have a wireless remote, perhaps you can tape the remote switch to your L bracket and use it as your shutter release?

I think your wireless remote looks something like this?

That has been the only idea I have come up with so far too. If I can get it to work out well I'll post some pics. Only problem is that my 15 year old son is going to have to do the work. I could be in trouble which is why I was looking for something pre-made.

Yea thats what I was thinking he was actually looking for...

Im pretty sure Stroboframe makes one, but if I remember correctly its kinda quite few little components to buy to make the mechanical shutter release built into it work with the electrical shutter release on the camera....

I have two flash (L) brackets; (1) strobframe http://www.tiffen.com …tml?tablename=stroboframe (external link) and (1) that only moves the flash to the side of the camera. Both solve the problem of holding the camera but not shooting the camera. Guess I could make my son hold the wireless remote and trigger the camera every time I yell shoot. After all he is the one that did this to my arm anyway.

Thanks,
Craig

How about a vertical grip for your 40D. With it, you can shoot "normally" using your left hand. The camera will be upside-down, though, and the eyepiece will be at the bottom instead of the top. But at least you'll be able to work the shutter release with the left hand. The images displayed on the LCD screen will be oriented correctly but the text and legends will be upside-down. Just a thought.

BTW, sorry to hear about your arm injury. :(
