I'm positive this is an HDR. I've noticed that, that often creates the image to be noisier after it was processed through the program. Plus, since it has to line up the 3 or however many you merged together. If one is just a hair off, it will look slightly soft. I'm not even saying that's what happened here, I'm just throwing out things that could've been. All in all, I think it's an awesome picture.
