Diopters

Hello everyone,

I am interested in some macro-type photography. I have an 18-55mm is and a 75-300mm lens with an XSi. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a macro lens, so I am looking at getting a set of +1, +2, +4 diopters. I looked on Adorama and found a few different brands... I want the lowest cost possible (I am only 17 and have a limited amount of money ) Would I be okay to go for the Adorama brand set for $27, instead of the Hoya for $45, or the Tiffen for $57? Is there any major differences between them except maybe a small difference in sharpness?

You have a camera with a removeable lens, so do not bother with IQ-limiting performance of close up filters (which are intended for cameras whose lens cannot be removed!). Get extension tubes...they cost more but are worth it. The only close up filters I would ever consider are the ones from Canon or Nikon with two optical elements, and they are quite expensive!
