Cormorant & Pelicans

Went for Whale watching (infact photographing) and came back with these pics.
I caught this Pelican when it was trying to fly with our boat. I was with 100-400 @ 400mm and did not get any time to change the focal length. Hence these are uncropped version and I would like to know whether its too tightly framed or is it fine.
Also what I liked here is the detail and I only wish these Pelicans were in Breeding Plumage.
I would really appreciate any comments & critique.

All very good shots but a bit too close for me.... Still nicely done... I wish I could do half as good as these though... ;)
