Hello everybody,

I have been recently looking into purchasing a used flash from CraigsList because they can be bought for much cheaper than a new one.

Is there anything I should look for with the flash? Such as with a lens you check for scratches, dust, focusing, etc..

I will be able to see and test the flash before buying it.

Thanks

I would just run through the normal tests.

Does it test fire?
If it has a digital display make sure it works and any bottons do what they should.
Put it on the camera and make sure it works and syncs up correctly.
Test it on different power levels to ensure that works.
Check the battery door, wouldn't want that to be lose and have your batteries fall out.
Swivel the head around.

That's about all I can think of to check.

Gear: Stone slab, hammer, chiseL, and crushed barries.

I would take some one who knows how to use the flash to see if it functions properly.
I purchased a new 580EX2 a year ago and am still learning new things, Cf. stuff, etc. so it takes a while, as they can do so many tricks.:p
