This is the first time I have ever had problems with moire in a childs dress.

What techniques is everyone using for this problem?

Thanks Francis

First things first - are you sure it's there, or is it just something that's visible when viewing at smaller than 100% on screen?

If it's genuinely a problem with the pixels, can you post a 100% crop of it here?

it shows on the prints. I didn't really notice it, when I was retouching the image.

Ok, can you post a 100% crop of the area for us?

Are you re-sizing to print? Moire can be a result of re-sizing, especially re-sizing down.

It (moire) is evident in the posted image. Is it there in the full size image?

If the moire is not in the image out of camera, here's a link explaiining the cause and how to reduce it when re-sizing: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com …/image-resize-for-web.htm (external link)

Q&D approach:
Opened file, assigned sRGB.
Looked at the channels. The moire pattern is the same in R and G, different (alternate) in B.
Channel mixer layer (masked), to even out most of the moire.
Hue/sat to get the color back to where it wat (approx.)
2 minute job.

No offence René, but it's still everywhere, just slightly blurred now.

It's not completely gone no, but it's quite a bit less, and a bit longer work will get rid of most. That's why I mentioned the "Q&D" ;)

Download the psd (post #9), and try some different settings in the channel mixer.
The idea is that you get the luminousity between the 3 channels (R,G,B) in the dress equalized (totally screwing up the color, but lessening the moire), then change the color back to where it was.

This is because the moire is dark in different parts in the blue vs. the other 2 channels.

Here are a gif of before and after, going through R, G an B channel.
You can see the respective luminances have changed (color changed), but the moire in G and B is almost gone. The red channel still shows some.

R, G and B channel. After correction: left. Before correction: right
