I love this P&S camera...the wide angle is fantastic! Of course it doesn't compare to my 30D, but it's awesome for those times when I can't carry around a big camera. I highly recommend this one...definitely a great buy! :D

Thanks, guys!:D

I don't really print out personal photos bigger than 5x7 or 8x10, so I think the quality of the shots from this little cam is great. Like I said, it doesn't compare to my 30D. :) Here's a larger size:

Yep. Nice. Good enough for the spirit in which you purchase it...small/medium prints & webbies! :D

cdifoto - I take issue with your snobbish put-down, treating this like a barely acceptable toy. This is the best P&S I have ever used. It takes excellent 8X10's and probably could readily print larger photos if one tried. My only complaint, which I voiced on this forum before, is that when using polarized sunglasses the LCD screen blacks out. The lack of a viewfinder is a serious problem.

Maybe you should pry your lips from your camera for a second so you can take what I said at face value. You're obviously reading into my statements and getting the exact opposite of their meaning out of them as a result of your love affair.

I think cdifoto's statements are pretty much spot on... as are those of the OP.

This little P&S is great given it's limitations. It cannot be (and no micro P&S ever will be) in the same league as the DSLR's. Among P&S cameras this one is indeed one of the best however. I have never found the lack of a viewfinder a limiting factor considering the LCD screen is used 99.99% of the time.

I agree...I wouldn't recommend printing anything larger. You may be able to, but I think it would be pushing it.:)

I did not find Cdi's comments snobbish at all. Please don't turn this post into a war zone...for it was meant to share an experience...not an attack.

I agree with JennB that this forum is meant to share an experience ...not an attack. That is why I posted my personal experiences based on my own use of the 870. It is a first-rate P&S but has serious LCD problems. Whether people require or don't require a viewfinder is their own business but they need to be be aware that if one wears polarized sunglasses and tries to use the 870 LCD in sunlight (in standard landscape format) the screen is totally black. This is a result of poor desgn by Canon and people should take this into consideration in making their choice. When cdifoto responds to my comments by writing, "Maybe you should pry your lips from your camera" and then stating that I have a "love affair" with this camera, it suggests that he has a problem with language but I will comment no further on this.

Nice! I just got one for my wife, seems like a winner for snapshots which is her forte.

I also own this camera. I really liked it when I first got it. I had to send it in recently to get the LCD screen fixed. It had a huge dead pixel issue. Since you don't have a view finder, you need the screen to compose the shot. I since bought the G9 to carry. I will probably sell the 870 IS when it comes back. I love the G9 for it's ability to shoot RAW format. The 870 is a really neat camera though. Jenn is right, the wide angle on that camera far surpasses any wide angle on other point and shoot cameras.
