I am used to shooting my BMW which does not have many shiny parts.
Tonight I pulled out my SO's Road King for pictures.
Wow, it's a tough job, everything is reflective!

I liked this one the best. What do you think?

I read your entry with interest before this photo shoot. Thank you for providing it!
Next time I will move it to a better location to remove the buildings.
I walked around that baby a lot, I could not figure out how to get myself out of all the chrome!

Gail:
Interesting try, but.......not very interesting shot.
I think you were trying to do something with the 'Road King' badge???? Is that a piece of thread (from a towel) 'stuck' from the badge?
Try these ideas,
First get the biggest lens you got, my choice would be my 70-200 2.8. or my 100mm macro.
Get a ways from the bike and get low and even with the Road King badge, frame with just a little space on top of the fender and a little in front of the tire, get some wheel and fork. Shoot a little more (space) than you think you'll need. Download and crop a few different ways until you see something you like.
Another way that might make an interesting shot would be a fisheye lens if (if you have one) Get up close and personable with the badge, include some of the wheel for reference, (that's it's a motorcycle)
I covered a motorcycle show a couple of years ago and had a blast with a 100mm micro lens getting a lot of 'details' on custom bikes.
Good luck, hope to see you try again!
Later,

Thanks again for the advice. It would not occur to me to "get my biggest lens out" but that is just what I did (80-400mm); and that really took care of the self-reflection.
I moved the bike around too, like a million time. :)

Here are the results, I think the bike really lends itself to B&W.

Nice improvement!
I don't know if you noticed it or not, but did you see the flag in the way far background on the last shot? I try to do that all the time, if I see a flag when I'm doing any kind of shoot I'll work it in backgrounds.
