I was wondering if there was a bag that can house a 70-200 and is accessible from the side, like my hip or something like that

Lowepro's Slingshot series...

I have the 300 and can easily fit a 40D or 5D (both with grips) and either a 70-200 or 100-400 with their respective hoods reversed.

There are "Holster" style bags that ride at your hip full time but (JMO) that would have to be a pretty big holster to hold a 70-200 rig...

Are you looking to hold JUST a 40D mounted with 70-200?

If YES, look at the Think Tank Digital Holster 30, 40, 50.

If you want a little more, and like the hip pack, look at the Lowepro Specialist 80, 85.

thanks everyone for the quick and great recommendations
I am envisioning just the 70-200 in the bag. My 40d and Tamron 17-50 will be on my neck the whole time
