I'm looking around online for some supplies to beef up my gear, but was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on retailers to stay away from. I know about Soniccameras.com and the horror stories about them, but was wondering if there were any others to toss in the same pile.

As well, how is ebay for ordering lenses? I'm quite experienced in purchasing other items from ebay, but is there anything I should pay attention to look for in regards to lenses? (Ie: Shipping method)

Thanks in advance!

Take a look just up above this post in the Market Watch section and you'll find a sticky that has a link to recommended vendors and vendors to avoid.

If all else fails, www.resellerratings.com (external link) is a good resource to use.

And I've never purchased any camera gear on E-Bay and don't play on doing so anytime soon. Others have purchased lots with no problems. Depends entirely on how you feel about E-Bay in general, I suppose.

i've bought quite a few lenses -- new and used -- off of ebay. you've got to buy the selller first just like you would on any internet transaction.

look at the amount and quality of seller feedback. there are plenty of good sellers on ebay and some bad ones.

I bought two used lenses from ebay and they were great. Sharp from what I can see in my photos and really no problems at all. Again, just look at the seller rating.
