I've managed to make it to two POTN get togethers and both were great fun with great people. Sound like CA #5 went of perfectly so lets get started on a #6 back in the north end of the state.

I'll suggest as a start, Sacramento. We've got the railway museum, the aerospace museum, plenty of parks to go 'hunt' deer and turkeys and such, or go ride one of the model railways, a couple of zoos, and some really good wine tasting about an hour away.

Plus, my house backs onto a park (still trying to persuade the parks department its actually my back yard, but then they'd stop mowing) which is great for hanging out in the shade and is just a 5 minute walk to the trails on the river. Great for barbecues and beers.

We've got some space so we'd be happy to have some guests. I've also got a couple of kids (boys, 8 and 6) to help keep any other kids entertained.

Details so far.

Time - October 10th, 11th, 12th.
Location - Sacramento
Events - Friday night (for whomever has made it) Rascals Pub & Grill (external link)
Saturday - Head down to the river (Effie Yeaw or Goethe/River Bend parks) in the morning. Head to a museum (Railroad or Aerospace) in the afternoon. Hanging out with beers and lenses the rest of the day.

My POTN Gallery, Complete gear list,
Tradition - Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid.

The sooner we have an exact date, the better.
However, count me in! ;)

I expect school, Ballet, Soccer, Karate, Brownies or some famous person at a concert will interfere but I need to post so I can follow along and see how it goes.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

I'm trying to find the schedule for when my kids are playing soccer too. I figured having 15 people with L lenses standing on the sideline would really freak the other team out. :)

Suckramento? hmmmm....dunno...what time of year? Having spent nearly a decade in Stockton I have little love for that part of the country in anything other that the spring. Summer is awful, winter is miserable and fall is so-so at times...

But still, we might be up for it if the timing is right! So much to see there...maybe we could track down Arnie and ask him what the heck he is thinking on some days? ;)

Real men shoot Pentax because we're born with our own Canon's!!
{Ok...ok, some of use just have a PnS but it it always makes me happy! :D}

Hmmm, right between Pat Benatar and Randy Travis (who was my first concert at the casino.) Could be tough. Are you guys sure you don't want to just meet us at Edison Camp on Shaver Lake over the next four days? :-)

Met the lieutenant governor last week, taking photos at an Olympics kick off. Haven't seen the governor in a while though. Last event I did that he was supposed to be at he was a no show and we only got Roger Dickerson from the board of supervisors instead. If I see him though, I'll make sure to get him to subscribe to this thread.
