I've managed to make it to two POTN get togethers and both were great fun with great people. Sound like CA #5 went of perfectly so lets get started on a #6 back in the north end of the state.
I'll suggest as a start, Sacramento. We've got the railway museum, the aerospace museum, plenty of parks to go 'hunt' deer and turkeys and such, or go ride one of the model railways, a couple of zoos, and some really good wine tasting about an hour away.
Plus, my house backs onto a park (still trying to persuade the parks department its actually my back yard, but then they'd stop mowing) which is great for hanging out in the shade and is just a 5 minute walk to the trails on the river. Great for barbecues and beers.
We've got some space so we'd be happy to have some guests. I've also got a couple of kids (boys, 8 and 6) to help keep any other kids entertained.

Events - Friday night (for whomever has made it) Rascals Pub & Grill
Saturday - Head down to the river (Effie Yeaw or Goethe/River Bend parks) in the morning. Head to a museum (Railroad or Aerospace) in the afternoon. Hanging out with beers and lenses the rest of the day.
