I've heard of making a CD archive of my photos, but never a photo archive of my CDs.

If you have a tripod then just use a long shutter rather than the flash.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Why take a pic of each one? Put all the cd's from one person together & take one hi-res pic of them. You can always "X" out returned ones & add new ones later.

Like Scott said, use a tripod and forego the flash.

But if you have to use the flash, them what you want to do is take it off the hot shoe and use a PC cord or hot shoe extension to connect the flash so that you can position the flash to one side of the camera and 45 degrees to the CD case. Two flashes, one of each side of the camera, would give you a much more even lighting.
