If camera died, would you use CF card in new camera?

Hi gang,

Well, my 300D kicked the bucket, and nothing I could do would bring her back (and I wasnt about to pay Canon $250+ to try to revive her). Am I being overly cautious, or is there any real threat to using the card that I was using when it died in my new 40D that should be arriving any moment . I was thinking no, but just wanted some thoughts. The card was a brand new Sandisk Extreme III and was like $60....hate to S**T-can it. But obviously if it harms my new camera, its gotta go.

Depends on what happened to the camera, was it the fault of the card or something in the camera.
Normally the card should be fine.
Delete all old pictures and re-formatt it in the new camera and shoot away.

The card should have had no bearing on the death of the 300D. I've never heard that a CF card has killed a camera before and if it has that's news to me.
Just reformat the card with your computer through your card reader so the new camera won't pick up on the old cameras shot count when you first fire it up. Use the full format option and not just the "quick format" option.

**EDIT** If you format the card in the new camera it WILL pick up the old picture count in your new camera!

You could get an XT to replace your 300D. it's still an upgrade...
