OK - haven't gone trekking with the Tenba
yet - just did a rough fit, but it can be configured to work much better than either the Lowepro (not Tamrac, sorry, I lose track) or Domke. It has a total of 3 sets of clips, 2 on the back and one on the end of the shoulder straps. If you hook it up with the bottom pair on the D-rings at the bottom back of the bag, the top back pair on the handle D-rings at the front of the flap and the shoulder straps also on the bottom 2 D-rings, once you've tightened up the straps on the back 4 clips it hangs nice and snug. Of course an F-1x as backpack is awkward in any kind of crowd, but then so is any equivalently-sized backpack (and I commute daily by train and subway with an equivalently-sized backpack; used to use an F-805 but shoulder bags are awkward on rail car aisles). I wouldn't use it for airports, but that's because I don't want the extra bulk of a strap on my carry-on. I will use it when at an air show where I have a ways between parking and the show line. I don't expect it'll stop me using a backpack for hiking either.
