Old workhorse AF system can't keep up in low light conditions:) Young guns definitely have the advantage here.

This is a strong possiblity. Afterall, my humble 300D is the 1st generation of Canon consumer DSLR and now they are talking about DigicIII chipset.

Looks like I have to wait a just bit more for the successor to the 40D. I would like to have an "SD card using" DSLR so as to compliment my SX100IS.

Cheers.

Here is another 2 more shots which shows an attempt and then a penalty (knocking over of a barrier)

get the 450D then. It uses SD and has spot metering.

I wouldn't expect to see SD in the 40D successor. CF is a much better format.

I had had the 40D for a brief 2 weeks, before my friend in Germany bought over my set (coz it is so much cheaper than in Germany).

I still liked the solid feel and handling of the 40D, as compared to the plastic-based 300D.

I dun mind the wait. As I noticed in recent weeks, the 40D kit is now 20-25% cheaper than when I got it last Dec 07. So, something new must be on the way...
