So I have been saving for a bike to replace the one that was stolen with my car. I realized today though that I was leaving with my family to South Carolina in a week and if I was going to buy a circular polarizer it should be now. Going on the advice of a professional photographer from another forum I decided that I should just get one good filter that will not need to be replaced. I went for a 72mm B+W Kaesemann MRC circular polarizer. There goes my bike savings...

Sorry, I just had to vent. It hurts now but I know it's worth it in the end.

Yep, it will take all your money if you let it!

Wow, $120, a lot of dough for a 72mm. I would have compromised and gotten the Kenko Pro1 for $60, making it less of a hit on the wallet.

Ah but you get the finely crafted quality of B+W manufacturing :)

And $120 is not so bad. I paid $220 for my 82mm B+W MRC KSM CPL.

I won't buy any filter but a B+W. Hoyas are good as well, but I've grown fond of B+W quality. Skimp on a filter and you skimp on your shot quality.

That is just sad, but I'm in the same boat. One thing about this hobby though is that it's easy to sneek things into the house.:D

I sneak things into the house just fine. Its when I start using that new white lens that my wife takes notice.

OK. I'll bite. What's your most expensive hobby?

Prior to getting back into photography my most expensive hobby was building gaming computers. Before that, golf. Before that, mountain biking. Before that, scuba diving. However, raising two kids trumps everything. Of course, that's not just a hobby. ;)

Mine was watches before photography. Unfortunately my hobby of home ownership trumps everything. Photography has cost me almost nothing, because I can't afford it!

That's what you get for visiting another forum! :D Those B+W filters are worth the money IMO.
