I uploaded the new firmware Version 1.1.1 but had not been using it as I had bought the 1D and was testing it.

However lately when I went to do an event on the same environment, lighting, flash used, I noticed when I started to edit my raw files - there seemed to be not much I need to do as the metering seems to have improved tremenduously. Tremenduously I said.

Keep it up Canon. That is the best shot you have given us users. Anyway my first AT was bought in 1978 and the F1 in 1981 and have been with Canon eversince.... then the EOS and now the DSLRS.

Anyone out there feels it this way. Post your photos.

Nope, only 3 small changes were made in that last firmware update"

It now supports high-capacity CF cards.
It allows the latest lens names to be recorded in the Exif information of images taken.
It adds lenses that are compatible with the Digital Photo Professional 3.2 lens aberration correction function.

Didn't notice any changes other than the ones Canon specified. Metering exactly the same as before.

psychological canon trick :D getting an update can make one really think the pictures (or something else) have been improved...but in the end...the fact you believe thát, makes you shoot better pictures:D

Anyway...that's how humans work in my opinion. I haven't noticed anything either..

wow, psychological effect plays a great role in improvement - anyway I am glad my shots have improved.

Mind over matter.

I think the 5D is trying to get back in your favor since you got that 1D. :)

Didn't realize how good the shots it takes were until you had the 1D to compare to, eh? :)

Enjoy!

Guess you may be right! But then now I will always make it a point to plan what the event is so that I will use the body and lens to suit the event. Shooting at close ranges like narrow streets and frontal buildings I will opt for the old faithful 5D with a wide angle lens. And of course with sports, it will be the 1D.

I'm not a "conspiracy theory" type of person, but I wouldn't be surprised if Canon adds little fixes to the firmware updates on occasion that they don't let on about.
