Few months ago i bought a Canon Eyepiece extender as i was pretty annoyed at a greasy LCD
At first i didnt think that the -0.75 VF mag would be a difference but i came to LOATHE it
smaller VF ftl, so i just never used it an dealt with the greasy LCD

recently i took a look at the hting however and decided sicne its anyway money already spent, why not mod it abit.
I simply unscrewed the 2 screws on it back, and took out the 2 plastic lenses that affected the mag, and screwed it back together.

smartest move i ever did
now it function as needed, without reduced VF size. Fot those that wear glasses this might be abit inconvinent as it tends to not show the edges of the view when you pull back abit, but used normally it fulfills its function of making your nose further away from the LCD, and dosent make the view any smaller

now its on my cam 24/7

i did however find it was abit loose. but i found some rubber stickers at work and applied them to the back of both the extender, and the standard eyepiece.
nice and tight and wont fall of either :)

Yea thats been mentioned here a few times. I have done it myself, but still didnt like the eyepiece extender. The only setup I think would work to my liking would be something permanent like a 1Ds body! :)

A warning to anyone considering buying an EP-EX15 extender, it DOES NOT fit the 450D. I found this out the hard way...

done it to both extenders for my xt and 40d. on the 40d i took a file and opened up the hole since its smaller then the one on the camera or appears smaller. it helped a bit, but i might need to take out the dremel to clean it up more.

I've tried both the Canon EP-EX15 mod and the Olympus ME-1 and they weren't to my liking. I finally stumbled on the Nikon DK-21M and it never leaves my camera. Its the same price as the Canon and offers the same nose relief but with the added benefit of 1.17x magnification.

I think the Olympus ME-1 1.2X eyepiece magnifier is great.
