I was asked to take some snaps of a girl to put in a Hair Salon brochure...Did some quick shots outside with a rented 16-35L I had on hand.
Are these any good? What improvements could be done?
I also played with a shot in CS2 and like how it turned out...What say you?

I like the last one.
In the first one her left eye looks OOF to me.
I really don't care for the pose in the second one.

what was the pp on this?

I don't remember exactly, I started in CS2 Camera RAW...But I pretty much raised the exposure and brightness pretty high to kind of blow out the face, desaturated it quite a bit, dodged/sharpened the eyes, dodged/healed the bags, (this pic makes the bags look worse than they were), Dodged certain areas of the hair, selective sharpening of the hair, add vignette.
For the lips I selected around them, messed with the saturation and color-replacer. Also on the eyes, I airbrushed a tiny thin black line around the iris' to bring them out more, airbrushed out some of the distractions in the background, did a USM and was left with that. I loved how it turned out. I was only goofing around with it and did it in like 15 minutes or something.

I also do not care for the second pose, but she liked it and the first one the best...go figure.

Edit: Oh, the original:

The second one looks the best for a Hair Salon Brochure.

only thing that bothers me about the last is the hair closest to the camera being out of focus. Maybe widen the DoF and pull the focal point forward to the hair closest so her body is still out of focus and her eyes are in focus. Otherwise great shot, great editing!

Here are my two cents :)

I find that shooting portraits with a wide lens causes a lot of distortion. The facial features tend to look more exaggerated than normal. I think this is most evident in the first shot. I like the sharp eyes in the first one but it's too tight of a crop. You cut off her chin and it also doesn't lend itself to showing off the full spectrum of the hairstyle. I think that her freckles/moles are also distracting especially because it's such a tight crop you can't help but notice them.

The second shot shows off her hairstyle much better but the black rail in the background is distracting. I would PP out her two fingers poking from the bottom of the image and her elbow is kind of growing out of her head.

I like the original better on the third one though your PP does help the blown out parts on her forehead.

I hope this helps :)
