I was going for a unique look and think I found it. This photo was turned into black and white, keeping the butterfly in color then adding a lense flare special effect. Comments?

That's quite nice. I'd probably try making the butterfly bigger and move the lens flare a little away from it.

I disagree. I would just take a bit off the LHS and a bit off the bottom.

It looks like it's under water to me. Very good.

I think you did a great job. I would also try a few different crops to see if it looks any better, but it is ok without doing that also.

Thank you all for your comments. I will do a little more experimenting and if I find I like something better, I'll repost to get your feedback if that's okay....

Good job post processing! The butterfly in the center, tho isn't working for you.....might want to crop.

I love this photo. Did you experiment with using the lens flare a little further away from the butterfly? Nonetheless it's quite beautiful.

Good shot, ruined by the lens flare.

I like it a lot otherwise, again don't like the lens flare. The "internal reflections" lower in the picture are OK, so you could maybe try different variants of the flare - but probably best to leave it out. Or else come up with a flare formula that works!

Justin Keery. 20D, 17-85 IS, 70-300 IS and f1.8 "nifty fifty". OK so I've got the equipment right at last, time to focus entirely on the photography!

IMHO photoshop lense flares look cheap. anyone who ever used photoshop knows how it was done.

a thing i do sometime is make 2 different lense flares then put them together, it still looks cheap but .. yeah
the picture in its self is very nice though

30mm, 50mm, 85mm, and some zooms here and there.

I like it but I'd drop the lense flare and crop it a bit so the butterfly isn't so central.

I like it, I agree with cropping it and taking away the lens flare.
