I picked one up about a month or two back, but havent used it much. One question I did have was, how would you use one in a fast paced environment? An example, I was looking through some drifting pics in the motorsports area, and someone mentioned using a CPL would maybe bring better results. Now how would one go about using one, with an external focusing lens? As you focus, you would constantly be needing to turn the Polarizer to get the desired effect. Am I missing something?

Yep...and nope. The beauty of externally focusing lenses...

Only on lenses that have a rotating front element. The 100-400 or the 70-200 series don't.
They do help a lot getting rid of glare from windows and makes colors on paint really pop.
If you use one though, you loose between 1.5-3 stops of light, thus slowing down your shutter speeds.

If you're shooting at mostly infinity, you can try setting your lens to MF and pre-set the focus to infinity, and then set your polarizer to the desired setting in advance. Not sure what drifting is (panning)? This may solve your problem...

Drifting is done by mentally disabled drivers, who can't drive straight ahead!
