This is straight from the camera aside from a little crop from the top and export for web. I was actually surprised at how it looked on the screen when I took it. It did not look that interesting before the shot. I did the spot metering on the middle cloud and this is what I got.

I would take several exposures with different amounts of light, and then combine them into a final image that is evenly exposed and puts more light on the house and trees.
