I think the Canon straps are too wide and have too little give. They are uncomfortable because they do not conform to your body shape.

wimpy? no. uncomfortable? yes.

no real complaints on my part but if Canon would listen to suggestions, i would prefer a slightly padded strap & QR buckles (like optech) for easier storage. maybe options in colors & styles? i saw a red canon strap in one of the threads here, if i remember correctly, it came from an old film camera, which i really like.

I'm just surprised that the do not offer a more robust strap even as a option.

Tom

Canon do offer other straps, a Nek Strap L3 ($25US) and a Professional neck strap ($30US)

No. They just suck.

I like a lightweight strap, the Canons are a bit to bulky for me even. But they are decent overall. I have not found a strap that I like any better than the Canon's to be honest.

Straps like the POTN strap are way to bulky for me. Most of the time I would rather just shoot without a strap at all.

I rather enjoy my free SmugMug strap. Much more comfortable then the Canon strap that came with my XT.

And for some reason they shipped me two, so I am not complaining at all :P

I love my Op-tech strap that I have on my 1dmkII. I have a similar but thinner neoprene quantaray strap on my 20D which works well since its lighter.

The strap really rubs my neck - I always have to put it over a collar (if I am wearing a shirt with a collar!)- which is why I tend to carry the camera on my shoulder or in my hand with the strap wrapped round my wrist. The trouble with having the camera dangling off the strap in my hand is that the lens hood tends to work loose (as it bumps against my leg) & suddenly drops off!

I don't use the neck strap on my neck at all, just for the shoulder when moving around. But I use this:

Works for me, good quality better than the one's supplied IMO. Just my 2 cents.

Seems like a good strap and I own it, but the plastic buckles scare the crap outta me...caution!!! Put the original back on it... oh, and it doesn't scream knock me over the head and steal my camera.
