I just bought the Body Armor for my wife's G9 and, having had prior experience with RRS products, was surprised at how difficult it is to slide this on to the L plate and remove it. Is that normal or did we just get a poor fitting one?

Not familiar with RRS at all. Checked this thing out and it looks pretty cool. Wow $150US? That is a lot of dough. I would be worried using it as a support due to the height and small footprint. Just waiting for some wind to tip it over.
How is their rep for the other products they offer?

I googled it cause I've never heard of it before. Looks pretty robust but that price tag is a bit much. Did you pay $150 for yours? I wouldn't mind getting it if the price was about in the $75 ball park.

they make really nice stuff actually. Their L brackets and clamps are the best in the business. It's also a husband and wife team and he makes everything in the US. That combined with the fact that G9 armor is milled from a solid block of aluminum, and that's why it's pricey. All L brackets are spendy though, not just theirs, but they seems to make the best looking and fitting L brackets I've found (I use them on my 40D and 5D and want one for the G9).

Actually, not as bad as I thought it would be. I won't let her get too far from it though if/when she does use it.

Very good to excellent from all the folks I've spoken to. I have one of their ballheads and the accompanying plates and they really are works of art as well as incredibly functional. They really put a lot of thought into the design and their maching is incredible. But, boy do you pay for it. Not much different from some others like Kirk though.

Well, the L plate itself is $88 so getting the body armor wasn't all that terrible to digest. And, this way my wife doesn't have to worry about it getting banged up when she doesn't want to take a bag along.

yeah, that and 2 other issues. First is will I use the G9 on a tripod ever? Second is I'm not sure if I'm keeping the G9. I'm sitting on it till photokina then deciding.

Good point. From all accounts, there should be a new model coming out.
