Just thinking ahead in case I use them (2x 540EZ's) for volleyball. Thanks Mike I take it your "4.5 SLA" is 4.5 volts, which is too low, its even less than the voltage using rechargables. Get a 6.0 volt SLA (I use 20 a/h units) & you'll be fine. Recycle time @ 1/2 power is almost non existant. At 1/4 power, non existant until it has fired about 12 times, so be carefull with the number of flashes you fire otherwise you will cook it.
