What is available for the 540EZ that will speed up the recycle time?
I have a 4.5 SLA battery but it is too slow to recycle for my taste. Is there a battery pack available that will speed up the recycle times?

Just thinking ahead in case I use them (2x 540EZ's) for volleyball.
Thanks
Mike

Two options right off the top of my head are the Canon CP-E4 and the Quantum's Turbo series battery packs.

Does the CP-E4 work on the older EZ series flashes Leo?

Yes, the Transistor Pack E, Compact Battery Pack E, CP-E2, CP-E3, and CP-E4 all work on 540EZ/430EZ/550EX/580EX/580EXII.

I take it your "4.5 SLA" is 4.5 volts, which is too low, its even less than the voltage using rechargables. Get a 6.0 volt SLA (I use 20 a/h units) & you'll be fine. Recycle time @ 1/2 power is almost non existant. At 1/4 power, non existant until it has fired about 12 times, so be carefull with the number of flashes you fire otherwise you will cook it.

Certainly, for fixed situations, bouncing off a ceiling, they are great for this type of sport (reflective floor) and indoor events.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into these options.
