sapearl Cream of the Crop More info | Aug 18, 2008 05:54 | #6 The Stofen is inexpensive and very compact. It works very well as long as you are in a confined area where it can bounce of nearby walls and ceilings. This is also quite popular here. That would be main my main use for it.. sapearl wrote in post #6128840 A lot of people also use it outdoors (incrorrectly?) and I'm not quite sure why. There is nothing for it to bounce off, and it only reduces your flash output. So for the amature who doesnt have loads of gear whats the option here ?

I've used it for portraits....family gatherings, etc. No complaints. I like it way better than the Sto-Fen, much better coverage and light dispersal. Its sole use isn't to "bounce" the flash.......when used outside it does a great job of dispersing the light as well.

I love to use it on multiple slave units..... Sometimes you actually get what you pay for. Good luck. Hi there welcome to POTN

I actually own a LightSphere - the original I think. I don't use it. As mentioned, it works in a very narrow set of conditions - mostly where you don't really need it. Dave

It produces a really unpleasant specular issue with moist skin compared to an umbrella or soft box. Las Vegas Wedding Photographer: http://www.joeyallenphoto.com
