I like these shots, but they seem a bit soft to me. The first and second to last are my faves.

They are a little too big to fully appreciate but they seem well done. The second and third seem rather soft. Very pretty model! I really like the fourth and fifth but the lighting isn't ideal, in my opinion.

I agree with some of the others... Her face often seems a little soft. Regardless of how good the rest of the components of the shot are, that will always ruin the pic for me.

I think they're only soft on the swim suit one? I checked the eyes in Lightroom and the rest seemed fine.

Agreed. Can you put them in a smaller size. They a little too big on the screen to see them in their entirety.

I like #2. Doesn't really look soft to me. #9-10 I don't particularly feel for. Really would help if there was better lighting. #1 and #6 are nice. Others are pretty decent too. You have a real good looking model there man.

Suggestions about a better way to light this?

Softbox generally camera left as the key , umbrellla camera right to fill and 'plain' flash behind model camera right for backlight.

Girlfriend who models is a good way to practice :)

Wow...you had that much lighting for #9-10? Sorry if I'm sounding like a total newbie but the flash behind her is also used as a fill? Isn't that more of a rim/back light? At least to me if you crank up the flash attached to umbrella more the lighting might look more even.

You are one lucky man with a gf like that...

Err backlight - edited :)

You mean 8 and 9 (There is no 10!)? That was a tough one to light since i was in my small living room. Excuses excuses :)

Sorry I meant #8 and #9 (long day at work...). But if you already have a fill light to the camera's right couldn't you essentially just crank it up a little?
