First off, i know how many of you will hype the potn op-tech strap... but putting the potn bias aside..... ( :P )

Which do you think is a better strap..and why?

the 2 most popular ones on amazon are:

http://www.amazon.com …ics&qid=1219086297&sr=8-1 (external link)

http://www.amazon.com …ics&qid=1219086338&sr=8-2 (external link)

...and those are the 2 i'm interested in.

sweat/moisture is a big issue because i shoot concert photography a lot, and between running around, beer/water/sweat flying all over, my strap gets soggy easily.

the supplied canon strap digs into my neck after a few minutes of being on, and is just too uncomfy.

Get the POTN strap which is an OP-Tech but you can help support the site!

I love the strap, got it as soon as I got my 20D! Shot many concerts, weddings, shoots, etc with it and it does fine. Tried the Lowepro, just as good really. The memory card patch isn't shouldn't really be factored though. Not that great.

I have the Lowepro strap and really like it. I can carry the camera comfortably all day, and the quick release is great for getting the strap out of the way when using a tripod. I do mainly scenics, so I walk quite a bit, but do not "run" with the camera much. The main strap is comfortable, and does not dig into my neck.

Unfortunately I do not have experience with the Op-tech for comparison.

I've been using the Lowepro for around 12 months on both my 20D and 350D.. No complaints..

I have owned both and feel that the Op/Tech is BY FAR more trust worthy, comfortable, higher quality, better looking, and stronger than the Lowepro.

Before I switch to optech, I was using Crumpler with my 450D mounted with 10-22mm lens and 100mm macro lens.
Overall does not help reduce the stress or weight and is hurting my neck.

Before that I also facing the same decision as you...
Either Lowepro or Optech neck strap.???

So I decided to get Optech, reason is because I have a optech tripod strap and that really help to reduce the stress on my shoulder.

After I switch to optech I can really tell the diff using it.
with my 450D and 10-22mm lens and 100mm macro lens.

As for Lowepro, I felt the strap don't really have the elastic kind of feeling
and don't think will be to reduce the stress either on your shoulder or neck.

So now I'm very happy using it...
Now I'm planning to get a optech bag strap....

just a little more advice, as long as you are replying to this thread, how many of you are using the optech or lowepro extended all the way out? I am fairly large, if 6'2" 290 lbs is FAIRLY large, and like the idea of a longer strap. I currently use an ancient canon strap with 3/8 webbing extensions to fit my size comfortably. any opinions from fellow big camera fans?

My height is about 5.6 feet tall (1.72 meter)
I am using optech strap (The photo that I posted on my previous advice) and full extended from my shoulder to about my waist line is estimated to be about 700mm (17 inch)

So far that is the longest optech strap I had seem.
The rest is quite short. And I also like long strap..
sometime I can shoulder strap it.

Hope this will be help...
Or you can visit any shop selling Optech strap and try it on.
will have a better pictures.

I've used a Lowepro strap for a while and when I got the 40D I bought another. I replaced it after a few months as the strap wouldn't stay in the buckles. I caught the camera falling at least 3 times after the buckle came undone. I have the same type strap on my 30D and it's never done this.

I now have a Optech on the 40D and think it's great. I prefer the Optech strap to the Lowepro one - better padding.

I have the Lowepro strap. I like it.

I have not used an Optech so I can not comment on the differences.

Hi,

I have a lowepro strap and love it. And I will take an new one, as soon as I'll purchase a new body.

I can't comment about Optech straps, I never owned one...

Laurent.

well the consensus from those that have owned both seems to be to go with the op-tech. and as i wont be upset wtih a lowepro, i'd be happier with the op-tech.
i'd like to get the potn one, but its almost double the price (with shipping and all)
