She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

Yeah I know it's supposed to be a daisy. I had to improvise

It seems that everytime I find flowers to shoot they are half dead. Apparently we just did landscaping here so I found a good one. Light was nice since it's scattered showers. I'd love suggestions for improvement, specifically composition. I'm never sure if I should get right up to the flower, or if I should frame it so all of the petals are in the scene. I tend to get very close and clip some petals. Not sure if this is the most appealing method or not.

Chris.I would crop the left out.as close as you can to the Dahlia....then use the black point to darken the BG.I know.lol.I am all about that.but the dark really pops the whites without losing detail.

Crop the left or the right?

Better.I always try to figure out my left and the right in the posting.

whites are tough.need back lights to bring out the shadows with processing..I really do like these softened.they just look sweet..I know.it doesn't help the
sharp" aspect.but sometimes a flower just has to be soft..We all have our"styles"...
